Making the Touch Bar finally useful:: By abandoning crappy Apple guidelines:: vas3k.com. 15-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar is my main work tool for more than a year. I use it every single day, all day long — to code, to process photos, and to write my blog posts, of course. Back in 2017, I thought the Touch Bar had a vast potential to. Spotify is a digital music service that gives you access to millions of songs. Display lyrics on your touchbar with BTT. Synced Lyric on TouchBar Show synced lyric in the touch-bar with BetterTouchTool and NetEase/QQ Music APIs. For a long time, I thought the MacBook Pro Touchbar was a useless gimmick. Until I found BetterTouchTool. $7 for two years. Or $21 for a lifetime license. Now my Touchbar is actually useful. But BTT takes some time to configure.
Sadly Spotify misses a lot of useful keyboard shortcuts, but fortunately we can use AppleScript and BetterTouchTool to create a shortcut to add a song to the queue.
I spent the last hour trying to set the easiest and most reliable way to create a keyboard shortcut for Spotifys Add to Queue functionality on OS X. Since I found no solution for this I decided to post it here.
Update June 14, 2013: In the last update Spotify moved Queue in the context menu from the second position to the 6th. I updated the article accordingly (but not the screenshot).
There is no menu bar entry for this functionality in Spotify and therefore no way to use an ApplyScript. I had to simulate mouse clicks to get this done. There exists a range of different tools to set keyboard shortcuts, but I personally prefer BetterTouchToul from Andreas Hegenberg.
In the main BetterTouchTool window you first need to add Spotify to the list of applications. Just press the small plus button in the bottom of the list. I created two shortcuts. One for adding all tracks in the current view to the queue and another one for adding all currently selected tracks to the queue.
Let's first create the shortcut for adding all tracks in the current view to the queue. Manually we would first press Cmd+A to select all tracks, then click the right mouse button and select the second entry from the context menu. We need to create a new shortcut by pressing the Add New Shortcut button in the lower right corner. Define your favourite shortcut to it (I mapped the CAPSLOCK key to Crtl+Option+Shift+Command and used CL+Q) and set Trigger Other Keyboard Shortcut to Cmd+A. Click Attach Another Action and set Trigger Prefefined Action to Rightclick. Next we need to attach two six more actions that both all should trigger the Down key. The last action we need to attach is the Enter key.
The shortcut to add only the selected songs to the queue is very similar, just set the shortcut to trigger Rightclick instead of Cmd+A.
Please note that the mouse has to be hovered over the selected songs when triggered the shortcut.

- Some improvements for M1 Macs (in case the update doesn't work automatically on these, please download a fresh copy from https://folivora.ai/)
- You can now make Caps Lock act as a 'Hyper Key' (a key that automatically presses all standard modifier keys for you). This allows you to define shortcuts like cmd+ctrl+opt+shift+A (which for sure won't interfere with anything) and still trigger them easily by only pressing Caps Lock + A.
To achieve this just record the Caps Lock key as a shortcut and assign the new 'Act as Hyper Key' action to it. - Capturing the special & media keys on a keyboard and assigning actions to them is possible again (e.g. Play, Next, Previous, Eject).
- The 'Open URL / Open URL with Selection' action now allows to select which Browser to use
- BTT can now be set as Default Browser. This allows you to run BTT actions based on the URL/App, and e.g. forward specific URLs to specific Browsers. (E.g. always open Microsoft Teams in Edge. It also allows to implement custom logic using scripts to determine how a URL shall be handled.
For more details see http://docs.folivora.ai/docs/1003_did_open_url.html. - Touch Bar buttons, script widgets and menubar items now support SF Symbol icons
- Added a 'Find Image on Screen & Move Mouse' action, which let's you search for some pixels on your screen and move the mouse cursor to the found position (if any). It's currently pretty basic but if you combine that with some click actions it can make it easier to automate things.
- The 'move mouse to position' action can now move relative to the corners of the main-screen or mouse-screen.
- The || operator used in the 'trigger menubar menu item' action will now also cycle between items if one of them is disabled.
- Many little bugfixes.
